Terms of service
Last updated: 2026-11-01
These terms cover your use of Deposit & Pre-order Abakira (“the app”), a Shopify app run by Abakira LLC (“we”, “us”). By installing the app you accept them. If you don’t, don’t install it.
1. What the app does
It lets your customers reserve a product by paying a deposit at your normal Shopify checkout. For each product you sell this way, the app creates an unlisted deposit product priced at the deposit. When the deposit is paid, the app edits the order so it carries the real product at full price, places a hold so nothing ships, and asks Shopify to send its order invoice for the balance. When the balance is paid in Shopify’s checkout, the app releases the hold it placed. We change features over time, and we try not to break deposits already running when we do.
2. Plans and billing
Prices, and what each plan includes, are in the pricing section of the app’s page on the Shopify App Store and in the plan page inside the app. A plan can include a recurring fee, a usage charge based on the deposits and balances your customers pay through the app, or both. A balance that is never paid is never charged. Charges are billed by Shopify, through your Shopify invoice. We never see your card. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from the app; Shopify applies the change as it describes in its own billing terms.
You need an active plan to create or turn on a deposit. Deposits and orders already running keep working if you change or cancel your plan.
3. Your responsibilities
- The deposit amounts, due dates and reminders you set are yours. You make sure they match what you promise your customers, and that selling with a deposit is legal where you sell, including any pre-order and consumer rules that apply to you.
- You fulfill the orders, handle cancellations, and issue refunds in Shopify. The app doesn’t refund anything.
- Taxes stay in Shopify’s settings. The app doesn’t calculate or file them.
- You keep your Shopify account secure, and you don’t use the app for anything unlawful or try to disrupt it, other merchants, or Shopify.
4. Your data
What we collect, why, and how long we keep it is in the privacy policy. It is part of these terms. You remain the controller of your store’s data; we process it on your behalf.
5. Payments and orders
We are not a payment processor and never hold funds: the deposit and the balance are both paid in Shopify’s checkout, with the payment methods you offer there. The balance is not charged automatically; your customer pays it from Shopify’s invoice. The balance shown is the one Shopify calculates on the order. While a balance is due, the app holds the whole order from shipping, including other items bought with it. If Shopify refuses an order edit, the order stays as it was and the app shows it as failed so you can retry.
6. Uninstalling
You can uninstall the app at any time from your Shopify admin. We then delete what we hold for your shop as described in the privacy policy. Holds the app placed on fulfillment orders stay in Shopify until you release them yourself, and the deposit products the app created stay in your store until you delete them.
7. No warranty, limited liability
The app is provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will be free of errors or always available, and we don’t promise any level of sales. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, such as lost sales or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits a liability the law does not allow us to limit.
8. Suspension and termination
We can suspend or end your access if you seriously breach these terms and don’t fix it after we tell you, or if Shopify or the law requires it. You can stop at any time by uninstalling.
9. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, the date at the top changes. If you keep using the app after that, you accept the new version.
10. Governing law
These terms are an agreement between you and Abakira LLC. They are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute about them or about the app goes to the state or federal courts located in New Mexico, and you and we both accept their jurisdiction.
